LISTSERV Changes Hands
By Robert Hadden Mole
Vol. 5, Issue 1 (Spring 2001)
After several years behind the wheel
of the PCP Listserv, Chris Evans has been forced to step down due to
mounting work pressures in other areas. We will all miss his dedication
to the cause during this time.
The listserv, and before it, the
mailbase have served as the virtual global community for practitioners
and researchers interested in constructivism. It has been a way for
some to make acquaintance with constructivism, a place to share thoughts
and put ideas out for discussion. It has also been a lifeline for those
undertaking research and needing advice at key times.
Several options were put forth as to
what could be done with the list once Chris officially stepped down.
One popular option was that of housing the current list within one that
was being constructed by John Mayes and Valerie Stewart. Another
option, unanimously rejected by those who wrote into the list to express
an opinion, was that of simply abandoning the list altogether. A third
option, was for someone with a British academic (ac.uk) email address to
continue on with the list. This option seemed to be favored by most of
those who made their views known. Fortunately, Maureen Pope was able to
supply the ac.uk address. She currently supports the list with Brian
Gaines.
To receive mail sent to
the list send email to
jiscmail@jiscmail.ac.uk where the body of the email contains only
the message: join pcp your-name e.g. join pcp George Kelly.
